Pom Poms

ONE look at Attic24’s pom poms was enough to send me looking for a Clover Pom Pom maker. This year I’m wrapping all my christmas presents in brown paper and red string, but now I’ll be adding some red and white pom poms to the mix. I found one at  Morris & Sons this morning, a great wool shop in Collins Street. Town was so busy and Christmassey  – all the decorations are up and it felt entirely appropriate to be on a Pom Pom quest.

The Clover Pom Pom contraption is simple to use and it only took me about an hour to make (what would be the collective noun for pom poms?) perfectly round, fluffy pom poms. The pack cost $19.95 for two – one makes small pom poms (35mm ) and the other 45mm (see picture). The best part is trimming them into shape; there’s something relaxing about snipping the wool in pursuit of a sphere.
